Why did Dahmer get kicked out of the army?

Jeffrey Dahmer was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on May 21, 1960, to Joyce Annette (née Flore) and Lionel Herbert Dahmer. His mother worked as a teletype operator, and his father was a student at Marquette University, working towards a degree in chemistry. Dahmer's parents had a tumultuous marriage, which resulted in Lionel Dahmer filing for divorce from Joyce Dahmer in January 1965. In August 1967, Joyce Dahmer filed a counterclaim for divorce, and the couple reached a financial settlement. Dahmer subsequently had two half-sisters: one from his mother's remarriage in 1968, and one from his father's remarriage in 1970. Dahmer was introverted and socially withdrawn, which caused him problems in socializing with his peers. When Dahmer was in fifth grade, his parents placed him in therapy with a psychologist, who diagnosed Dahmer as suffering from a borderline personality disorder, recommending he receive counseling. However, Dahmer's father refused to allow his son to continue with the sessions. In June 1978, Dahmer graduated from high school. He enlisted in the United States Army the following year, but was discharged in March 1981 after having been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. Dahmer's discharge from the army was due to his drinking problem, and he had been AWOL on several occasions. Dahmer's drinking problem continued after his discharge from the army, and in 1982, he was arrested for public intoxication. The following year, Dahmer was arrested for disorderly conduct. In both instances, Dahmer was fined and placed on probation. It is believed that Dahmer's drinking problem was a major contributing factor in his later crimes. Dahmer's murders were often preceded by heavy drinking, and several of his victims were intoxicated when they were killed. Dahmer's first known victim was Steven Hicks, a 19-year-old hitchhiker who was killed in 1978. Dahmer picked Hicks up while he was hitchhiking and offered him a place to stay for the night. Dahmer later bludgeoned Hicks to death with a barbell and buried his body in the woods behind his house. In 1987, Dahmer was arrested for lewd and lascivious behavior for exposing himself to two boys, aged 14 and 15, in a public park. He was sentenced to one year's probation. The following year, Dahmer was arrested for masturbating in front of a young boy in a department store changing room. He was again sentenced to probation. It was not until July 22, 1991, that Dahmer was arrested and charged with murder. On that day, police were called to Dahmer's apartment after a naked and bleeding man was seen running from the building. The man, who was later identified as Tracy Edwards, told police that he had been held captive by Dahmer and had managed to escape. Police found evidence of foul play inside Dahmer's apartment, and Dahmer was subsequently arrested
